                                Ten students who wished for educational materials received gifts from gift-angels around the world

Laxmi Shahi studies in Shanti Shikshya Mandir, Thaiti as a first grader. As per her teacher and gift applicant Ms. Nima Rajbhandari, Laxmi is counted among the hardworking students of her school. She lives with her parents and her father works as a carpet seller. Her father’s income is not enough to neither feed them nor fulfill the basic necessities of his family.  Laxmi though works hard sometimes she can’t come to school. The main reason being she doesn’t own a sweater  As the winter is getting colder her urges to help by helping buy her a sweater so that she can come to school regularly and fulfill her wish to study.

Bishal Lama studies in class four in Shanti Shikshya Mandir, Thaiti. According to his teacher and gift applicant Ms. Nima Rajbhandari, Bishal lives with his family in Dhokabahal. His father works as a laborer and his mother is a housewife. Bishal, though he is a good student, doesn’t go to school regularly due to extreme cold.  His father being the only bread winner and with his seasonal income, he is not quite enough to fulfill even the family’s basic need.  So seeing his poor economic condition and his determination to study his teacher asks to help buy him a sweater so that he can keep himself warm during the winters and go to school regularly.

Anju Giri is a fifth grader studying in Shanti Sikshya Mandir, Thahiti. As per her teacher and gift applicant Ms Nima Rajbhandari, Anju stays with her parents in Inabahal. Both her parents work as street vendors. Even though they both work hard they do not earn enough to fulfill the basic requirement of the family. Anju is a hard working and obedient student says her teacher. She is loved by her teachers as she is one of the well disciplined students of her class. Anju being a determined student doesn’t come to school regularly during the winter all because her parents can’t afford to buy her sweater. So, her teacher asks to fulfill her wish to go to school wearing a sweater and keep herself warm.

Nurbu Sherpa is a first a first grader studying in Shanti Shikshya Mandir, Thaiti. As per her teacher and gift applicant Ms Nima Rajbahdari, Nurbu is an exemplary student of her class. Her teacher says that she is kind hearted and punctual. Nurbu stays with her mother who works a house maid. Her mother’s job doesn’t earn much which doesn’t allow her mother to fulfill her basic necessities. Nurbu though being a hardworking and diligent student doesn’t come to school sometimes as she doesn't have sweater to keep her worm. Nurbu wishes to come to school regularly with warm clothes to keep her warm.

Shreeram Rai is a first grader studying in Shanti Shikshya Mandir, Thaiti. As per his teacher and gift applicant Ms. Nima Rajbhandari, Shreeram has been living with his grandmother ever since his father left him. According to his teacher, Shreeram is a hardworking and very determined towards his studies. Even though he is a good student he doesn’t come to school regularly. Its mainly because he doesn’t have even a pair of shoes to keep his feet warm this cold winter. His grandmother works hard to fulfill his needs but due to her old age she is not fully able to do so. So seeing his condition his teacher urges to help him by buying him a pair of shoes so that he can come to school regularly.

Alisha B.K is a seventh grader studying in Kanti Ishwari Rajyalaxmi Ma. Vi. As per her teacher and gift applicant, Ms. Geeta Maharjan, Alisha lives in Dallu with her mother and younger brother. Her father does not stay with them as he is living with his second wife separately. The only bread winner of the family, her mother has to work day and night to fulfill her family’s need. She is one of the diligent and hard working students. As her mother is a single parent who doesn’t earn much, her teacher requests our to help Alisha buy new sweater for this chilly cold winter.

Deepak Sahi is a fourth grader studying in Sri Arunodhaya Lower Secondary School, Dhioka Tol, Kathmandu. He lives with his family in Naradevi. There are 7 members in his family. His father is a small business owner. According to his gift applicant and teacher Ms. Urmiladevi Shrestha, Deepak is a well disciplined, friendly and hardworking student. He is always eager to learn and comes to school with all his homework and class work done. But Deepak does not have a proper school uniform. Deepak like any other student  wishes to come to school in proper set of school uniform.

A 12 years old girl with a beautiful smile and innocent eyes is Manakamana Shrestha. She studies in grade 3 in Pragati Siksha Sadan, Lalitpur. She is originally from Sindhupalchowk and currently living in Kupandole in a rented room. She lives with her parents and 3 siblings. 

Manakamana loves to read her course books after school. She is good at her studies. Her favorite subject is English. She aims to become a teacher in the future.  

Her favorite game is 'hide and seek'. After school she helps her family members in various activities like cleaning dishes, washing clothes. 

Manakamana currently receives mid-day meals through KG's Sajha Khaja program.

Aspiring to be a scientist, Nishan Upreti wants to make it to the moon. He is 9 years old and a student of grade 2 studying at Pragati Siksha Sadan, Lalitpur. He lives with his mother and brother. They share a rented room in Kupandole. He is originally from Kavrepalanchowk.

He loves to go to school because he has many friends there. He likes to learn English language so that it will be helpful for him to become a scientist. He believes that scientist can invent many things useful for this universe.

Outside school, he helps his mother in her household works. He really wants to study hard and become a scientist so that his mother's hard work can be materialised one day. 

Nishan currently receives mid-day meals through KG's Sajha Khaja program.

Rabindra Tamang, Pragati Siksha Sadan


Rabindra Tamang is originally from Nuwakot. He is 9 years old and studies in grade 2 at Pragati Siksha Sadan, Lalitpur. He lives with his father in Kupandole in a rented room. His mother lives in Nuwakot. 

Rabindra came with his father so that he can study in a better school. His father works days and nights as a daily wage laborer to make him a better citizen. To his father's dream, he is doing full justice. He is a bright student and very much keen in his studies. After school, the first thing he does is sit for his studies and finish all the homework. His favorite subject is English. After finishing his homework, he plays football with his friends. He aspires to be a pilot and wants to fly high.

Rabindra currently receives mid-day meals through KG's Sajha Khaja program.

Rama Chaudhary, Pragati Siksha Sadan
Seven years old Rama Chaudhary is just back from Dang, her home district. She has her grandparents, uncles, aunties and cousins there in Dang. She had a wonderful time with them but she likes it here in Lalitpur because she has her mother and a brother here. Her mother earns her living by working in an office, serving tea, snacks and meals to the office staff. . With the monthly income, Rama's mother has to pay room rent, look after her children education, and bear day to day expenses.

Rama is in grade first in Pragati Siksha Sadan, Lalitpur. She aspires to be a teacher in the future. To accomplish her aspiration, she continuously does her homework and respects her teachers. She loves to play hide and seek with her friends and read stories in the leisure.

Rama currently receives mid-day meals through KG’s Sajha Khaja program.

Sarita Dhungel, Pragati Siksha Sadan
Sarita Dhungel is a beautiful and an ever smiling girl. It is amazing to see an eleven years old girl with such sincerity and yearning to become a teacher. But to fulfill her aspiration, her mother will have to work hard to ensure things are in the right track. Sarita came to Kathmandu with her parents from Okhaldhunga but her parents separated three years back. Currently, Sarita is living with her mother and an elder sister in a rented room in Lalitpur.

Sarita and her sister study in Pragati Siksha Sadan in Lalitpur. Sarita is in grade three and her sister in grade six. Her mother works days and nights to ensure her daughters’ education. As a tribute to her mother's hard work, Sarita is doing great in school. She is one of the top 5 students of her class. She chooses to read books and stories over playing in leisure. Her favorite subject is Nepali.

Sarita currently receives mid-day meals through KG’s Sajha Khaja program.

Seema Magar, Pragati Siksha Sadan
Shy yet energetic Seema Magar is a grade 2 student of Pragati Siksha Sadan, Lalitpur.  She is 12 years old. She is originally from Biratnagar and is living with her maternal uncle in Kupondole. There are 5 members in her uncle's family and they rent two rooms to share. 

Seema wants to become a teacher. Her favorite subject is English and practices speaking and writing on her own. Unlike many other girls, she plays football and would love to become a football player as well. 

After school she helps her uncle and auntie in fetching water, cleaning dishes and in other household chores. 

Seema currently receives mid-day meals through KG's Sajha Khaja program.

Shirish Tamang, Pragati Siksha Sadan


With a vivid smile in his face and a pair of sparkling eyes, Shirish Tamang personifies cheerfulness. Eleven years old Shirish lives in Kupandole with his parents. He is a student of grade one in Pragati Siksha Sadan. Shirish's father earns his living by painting houses.

Shirish is good at his studies and his favorite subject is English. He aims to be a doctor in future because he is fascinated by the white coat doctors wear. He likes to play hide and seek with friends after school. He likes to take pictures using camera but he does not have one.

Shirish currently receives mid-day meals through KG’s Sajha Khaja program.

Siddhartha Bhujel, Pragati Siksha Sadan

Eight years old Siddhartha Bhujel is one of the bright students of Pragati Siksha Sadan, Lalitpur. He studies in grade 2. He lives with his parents in Kupondole. They rent a room which is shared by his family of four. 

He never misses to go to school. He loves going to school, doing his homework and reading books. His mother works as a maid and father works as a daily wage laborer.

After school he goes home, changes his dress, eats snacks and sits for studies. Amazingly, he is just 8 years old but knows that his first priority is his studies. His favorite Subject is English and he aims to become a scientist. He also knows the fact that to help him accomplish his dreams; his parents are really working hard. So, apart from focusing on studies, he helps his mother in various household chores. 

Siddhartha currently receives mid-day meals through KG's Sajha Khaja program. 

PictureSunita Sodari, Pragati Siksha Sadan



'My father works abroad and my mother works as a maid', said Sunita Sodari. She is studying in grade first in Pragati Siksha Sadan in Lalitpur. Her two elder brothers are also studying in the same school. 

Sunita loves to draw, read stories, and play with dolls and toy cars in leisure. Her future aim is to be a pilot and when we asked her 'will you fly us in your plane?’ she flashed a shy and sweet smile and replied a 'yes'. 

Sunita is just eight years old. At home after finishing her homework; she helps her mother to get water to clean dishes. They live in a rented room in Lalitpur.

Sunita currently receives mid-day meals through KG’s Sajha Khaja program.

Suresh Sodari is just 10 years old but he talks like a wise man. He is aware of the fact that his parents work hard to make him live, study and play and so he always realizes he can only make them happy by being good in his studies. According to his teachers, he is good at his studies; he is in grade 3 in Pragati Siksha Sadan, Lalitpur. 

Suresh is originally from Ramechhap and lives in Kupondole with his mother, an elder brother and a younger sister. They have rented a room which costs around two thousand rupees. To earn their living, his mother works as a maid and his father works abroad. 

Suresh likes to read course books in spare time.  His favorite subjects are Mathematics and English. He wants to become an army officer in the future because he likes to play with toy guns and after joining the army he will have a chance to see the real guns. Besides playing with toy guns, he also likes to play football. 

Suresh currently receives mid-day meals through KG's Sajha Khaja program.
