Mental Health

“Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood.”  -  Source: Mental Health Gov
Anyone may experience mental health problems.  Students in particularly may be affected by factors such as:
1. Biological factors, such as development of their bodies especially in teenage years

2. Life experiences such as trauma, abuse, relationship-issues or performance-anxiety
3. Family history of mental health problems

Stigma & Awareness

People with mental health problems can get better, and with help most have complete recovery.  In Nepal, mental health problems are common and help is also generally available. However, our society has stigma and shame around mental health, so many shy away from seeking help or sharing their experiences.  KG aims to raise awareness and facilitate dialogues among school-communities and service provides.
“If there is a possibility of changing the thought, feeling, the attitude of the teacher, then perhaps there can be a new culture, a new civilization.” - J Krishnamurti
