Sweaters Campaign

A student without a sweater faces not only Kathmandu's bitter winter, but also embarrassment in front of classmates. Sweaters Campaign channeled 100% of donation to those students.

How volunteers helped 164 students in government schools who were facing Kathmandu's bitter winter without sweaters?

By the time, the campaign started, winter was already at its peak. There was little time to prepare.
There was no funding, no blue-print on how to proceed!

164 received sweaters.
104 people pledged Rs 68000.

CLOTHES FOR GOVERNMENT SCHOOL STUDENTS
THE YEAR ENDS WITH A BANG IN KG

ABOUT FLASHMOB

On December 31, KG organized a flash mob to promote the
clothes drive. A flash mob is a brief dance-event here group
of people assemble suddenly in a public place, perform
a brief dance and then quickly disperse. In this occasion,
we danced to Gangnam style!

ABOUT CLOTHES DRIVE FOR WARM WINTER

To address the problem of shortage of clothing of students of government school, KG and the three youths from Hollins University jointly are initiating “Clothes Drive for Warm Winter”. Through the program it is expected to support 300 students from 30 different government schools in Education Support Network of KG.

CLOTHES DRIVE - JANUARY 2013

In the gifts programs, KG received a lot of request for warm clothes. This firmed up our partnership with 3 students from Hollins University to carry out a clothes drive in January 2013.
Clothes Fair was successful, thanks to the contributions from:

Volunteers - 16
Teachers - 12
Students- 180+
Parents- 20+
Donors- 25+

EVENT DETAILS

Clothes Drive was held at Kanya Mandir Premises for the students of 30
government schools, on 5th January,2013. We had collected over 600
washed and used clothing items.
On the warm sunny winter, the clothes fair started with the big bang.
The students received clothes by dancing on " Gangnam Style" and playing
games like Pin The Donkey, Solving Puzzle, Mathematics Questions, Hit
The Can, London Stop, Chungi, Score A Basket. More than 180 students
received clothes to keep themselves warm in this winter.

BUILT UP TO THE CLOTHES DRIVE

Lessons

The children felt happy when they won the clothes through dance and games.
There were more clothes than winner, so we started distributing the clothes freely. The children became greedy, envious and unappreciative. We stopped the free distribution after some time. The remaining clothes will be given in future events.
