"Relationship is the only thing that we have, and without understanding that relationship we can never find out what reality is or God is. So, to bring about a complete change in the social structure, in society, the individual must cleanse his relationship, and the cleansing of relationship is the beginning of his own transformation."  JK
Dear KG Family,
February is the month of sharing love. This month, KG has focused to make a child happy everyday and has flourished!  Through KG Gifts, 99 students have already received the gifts- sweaters, socks, shoes, bags.   This has encouraged and excited the teachers who in the past did not know that so many individuals would come forward to help after hearing these stories. KG hopes to raise support for stationary for 1000 students for new session.

Full update page is here.

Picture
Sophiya Khatun is a class 1 student of Arunodaya Ni. Ma. Vi. She lives with other 5 family members. Her father owns a small business but doesn't make enough to support the family's basic need. She is diligent student who is very studious and believes in personal cleanliness. She loves her friends a lot. She is keen in studying and can answer any question that is being asked by teachers.

.Sophiya lives with her aunt. She has a poor economic background. She comes with bare feet in school and doesn't have proper uniform to wear. In a week, she used to be present only for 2-3 days. And according to her teacher, Ms. Bimala Acharya, she covered her face due to shyness.

Through KG Gifts, she has been given sweater on the cold winter, supported by Siddhartha Maharjan. She has been encouraged to come to school, says her teacher in an excited tone. Nowadays, she is regular to school and studies with the whole heart. She stands first/second in her class. Now that she has received a KG gift, she says she wants to study hard and doesn't want to put any burden to her aunt.

Ms. Bimala says she has been exhilarated and happy to see Sophiya improving and being a confident girl. Ms. Bimala is also praised by the school's principle. With KG Gifts, she really feels empowered to do something for their students.
AN EXPOSURE TRIP
KG organized an exposure trip for members on 27th February for a child-education specialist (Ms. Mariko).  We went to Tarini School and Bal Bikash School.  Mariko was interested in urban schools as she had a lot of experience in rural schools of Nepal. After seeing the classroom in session, discussing with teachers, she concluded that prospects of these students were not much better than their village students.  The teachers also shared how they feel that
the chief problem in teaching in government schools is that no matter how hard they try to make students learn, they fall apart when they know the parents are not concerned for their child's education.
COLLEGE OUTREACH PROGRAM
KG Team went to two colleges, British College and Ace Institute of Management in February 2013. The team presented about what we want to do in life and choices of people have. It talks about the third option by increasing the ability to respond thus ensuing personal success and social success- 'Earn now and share now'.

In Ace, 8 circle teams were formed in total of two BBA-BI classes and in British College, ACCA students formed 3 circles who have taken up a day to remember to share happiness and sponsor a child by giving gifts.
