2012 MARCH UPDATE

3/11/2012

Dear KG Members,

Please take a few second to read about  Anil Kumar Sharma, whose life you touched through KG.

QUOTE OF THE MONTH
We are not talking about what the rich should give up for the sake of the poor. Whatever they give up, it will not satisfy the poor- but that is not the problem. You who are well-to-do, and who therefore have the opportunity to cultivate intelligence, can you not through revolt create a new society? It depends on you, not on anybody else; it depends on each one of us, not on the rich or the poor, or on the communists. You see, most of us have not this spirit of revolt, this urge to break through, to find out, and it is the spirit that is important.

            LIFE YOU TOUCHED!

Picture
Anil Kumar Sharma is an outspoken child who is studying in Pragati Sikhya Sadan. He loves playing football and singing song. He has a dream to become a pilot one day. According to him reading a course book is not that much enjoyable. He was born in India and now he is living with his family members in two rented room at Sanepa, Kathmandu.  He has five members in his family. The sole bread winner of his family is his father who earns below Rs.5000 as a carpenter.

KG has been involved in providing Anil with Saja Khaja since two years.

‎ This profile was created by  Swati on February 2012.

INSTITUTIONAL:In March, KG made a few small achievements:
  1. KG staff Miru Vaidya has left KG on a sabbatical leave. KG welcomed two new staffs.  Shilpa Shahi Gurung will oversee HR, Admin and fund raising/ CSR efforts. Samjhana K.C. will work on Membership management and communication.  In April, we are expecting Muna Chaour to lead  Volunteer management.
  2. For the first time, we met our monthly target, in part, due to 2 large contributions amounting to Rs 40,000 and Rs 36,000 from QFX Cinemas and Uttam Sharma respectively.
  3. We are implementing a KG Endowment Fund (instead of KG Cooperative, which we found out is legally not feasible) which can lend to meet KG’s working capital needs.
 PROGRAM:
  1. As there is a term-break so we did not have any Sajha Khaja. Therefore, we spent time reviewing and renewing Sajha Khaja program.  Instead of providing meals for only two days a week, we will now provide them in ALL days.  Also, we will now try to provide Khaja in more schools (not just in Pragati Sikshya Sadan).  To raise resources and interests for this, we are undertaking ‘Door to Door Information Campaign’ and ‘CSR Campaign’.
  2. KG organized a “Door to Door Information Campaign” from March, 2012 to reach the community around Pragati School where we have been holding Sajha Khaja for the last six years. We reached over 50 households, raised Nrs. 1,740 and registered 3 new volunteers.
  3. Swati, the program officer, organized an essay competition on the subject of “What you like and do not like about exam?”  It was organized at Kanya Mandir School among the students of 5th standard. Essays of Kiran, Durga and Rojina were chosen as the outstanding ones. The winners will be gifted free movie tickets in courtesy of QFX Cinemas.
LOOKING AHEAD:
  1.  As the new session is going to start soon, KG is looking forward to provide 1000+ students with the stationery support in 2012.
  2.  We are providing Sajha-Khaja in a different way. Unlike last year, this year we are providing Sajha Khaja a school at a time. As we meet our target and raise enough funds for that school then we will be expanding Sajha Khaja to more schools. If you want to sponsor Sajha Khaja then please fill out the Sajha-Khaja forms or call 9851128610.
Monthly Event:   We are continuing with our "Door to Door Information Campaign"  around Pragati Sikhya Sadan in this month.
