Monika Sunuwar is a beautiful eleven years old girl with dimples in her cheeks. She studies in grade five in Kanya Mandir School. She never brings tiffin to the school, she gets to eat sometimes if her generous friends share their meal with her otherwise she goes back home after school and eats whatever is left over. She is used to tolerate hunger because she knows if she asks her mother for tiffin, her mother will be hurt since she is struggling to earn a smooth living.
Monika's father passed away when she was an infant. They lived at her maternal uncle's house during the initial year but Monika's mother decided to come to Kathmandu to do something. She started working as a labor in a cloth factory. Meanwhile, she remarried another man. That man, Monika's step father, left them when she was pregnant with his child. He never came back again, she stood firm in spite of the situation, and Monika got a younger sister in return.
Now, three of them live in a room in Paknajol. She helps her mother by washing clothes, doing dishes, cooking meals and looking after the younger sister. Besides tiffin, she has not been able to bring stationary with her as well. Sarala Miss, her teacher, has inspired KG to gift stationery and tiffin to Monika in an urgent basis from December 2012 (Meal for a session- Rs. 1750)
(Status- V. Singh pledged Rs. 1160 for meal on 12th December 2012) On 8th May Arun Ghimire has pledged Rs. 1750 for meals. On July 2013, Sagar Prasai has pledged to support for her meals.
