DECEMBER UPDATE
Truth is more in the process than in the result. Jiddu Krishnamurti(The Little Book on Living)

Dear KG Members,

Kindly take few minutes to read about a life you touched through KG:

LIVE THAT YOU TOUCHED
Picture
Rabindra Tamang is originally from Nuwakot. He is 9 years old and studies in grade 2 at Pragati Siksha Sadan, Lalitpur. He lives with his father in Kupandole in a rented room. His mother lives in Nuwakot.

Rabindra came with his father so that he can study in a better school. His father works days and nights as a daily wage laborer to make him a better citizen. To his father's dream, he is doing full justice. He is a bright student and very much keen in his studies. After school, the first thing he does is sit for his studies and finish all the homework. His favorite subject is English. After finishing his homework, he plays football with his friends. He aspires to be a pilot and wants to fly high.

Rabindra currently receives mid-day meals through KG's Sajha Khaja program.

When the world was waiting to watch bad omen to happen, KG was all ready to collect all those memorable testimonials of 2012. This section will give flash back of some of our 2012's notworthy events. The events are kept in the reversed order starting from the last.
  1. Clothes Drive for Warm Winter after FlashMob: KG ended the year with a joint initiation with students of Hollins University to help government school students with warm clothes for winter. In this endeavor, 50 students from various inistitution helped us organize Flashmob at Basantapur which captured the attention of the immediate community people in our program. Not just that the event got covered in a national daily. A week after we organized clothes drive at Kanya Mandir School, through which we distributed clothes to more than 180 students and more than 20 parents. Please read more about it in here.
  2. Health Camp in Kanya Mandir School:  With a team of doctors from Taiwan, KG organized a Health Camp in Kanya Mandir in August. Through this program we were able to help 288 students including teachers, and their parents. Please read more here.
  3. Teej Festival Celebration in UWTC:  Our enthusiastic volunteers from K&K International College initiated Teej Celebration program keeping KG's stall midst a commercial hubbub in UWTC with an aim to inform ordinary people about KG and raise funds. They reached 128 people and raised Rs.7405. Please read more here.
  4. Silence Speaks was another memorable experience of KG which helped KG and some of the concerned citizens to voice out their frustrations on issues like Nepal Bandhs, Child Abuse, Corruption etc.
  5. Beside these events KG also organized Outreach Program in  ACE College, K&K International College, Rotary Club of Baneshwor and Thames College. Through this program we were able to reach more than 100 youths.

Program

  1. KG Gifts: KG initiated KG Gifts from July, 2012  as a third option for the government school teachers to support the educational aspiration of students. We are so proud of our Jury members for KG Gifts who lent their continuous support to grow this program. By the end of the year, KG delivered             gifts to     students. The most common gifts included             . KG targets to deliver       gifts to         students in 2013.
  2. Change Makers Program:  KG visions to transform the society an individual at a time, starting with oneself. Just like KG Gifts, KG Awards was initiated from a discussion among the KG members with an urge to live the vision. Initiated with the voting idea, where teachers wrote the inspiring story of their studnets and our fellow members voted the best one as the Award Winner, this program is now transformed into Change Makers Program. Now, we select one teacher and one student every month on the basis of their inspiring story of Change, as the Change Makers. Please read more about this program here.
  3. Gifts Stationery:  Yes, you read it right. It's a Gift Stationery Program. Our KG Gifts program i Stationery Program is one of our core program. In 2012 we distributed 6850 notebooks to 998 students. Inspired by the KG Gift's funding simplicity we are transforming this program to Gifts Stationery. While the content of this program will remain the same, we are only changing the process of its funding. In 2013, we aim to raise Rs. 700000 for 12000 notebooks so that we can  change lives of 1000 students.
  4. Sajha Khaja:  Like stationery program, Sajha Khaja is one of the core program of KG. In 2012, we delivered more than 120 Sajha Khaja to 12 students of Pragati Shikshya Sadan. From 2013, we will be merging Sajha Khaja in our KG Gifts program so that we can reach more schools and students. Through this approach we aim to give our teachers a medium to support their students who are in need of some help to afford their lunch.

Looking Ahead:
