Rabindra Tamang is originally from Nuwakot. He is 9 years old and studies in grade 2 at Pragati Siksha Sadan, Lalitpur. He lives with his father in Kupandole in a rented room. His mother lives in Nuwakot. Rabindra came with his father so that he can study in a better school. His father works days and nights as a daily wage laborer to make him a better citizen. To his father's dream, he is doing full justice. He is a bright student and very much keen in his studies. After school, the first thing he does is sit for his studies and finish all the homework. His favorite subject is English. After finishing his homework, he plays football with his friends. He aspires to be a pilot and wants to fly high. Rabindra currently receives mid-day meals through KG's Sajha Khaja program. |
Seven years old Rama Chaudhary is just back from Dang, her home district. She has her grandparents, uncles, aunties and cousins there in Dang. She had a wonderful time with them but she likes it here in Lalitpur because she has her mother and a brother here. Her mother earns her living by working in an office, serving tea, snacks and meals to the office staff. . With the monthly income, Rama's mother has to pay room rent, look after her children education, and bear day to day expenses.
Rama is in grade first in Pragati Siksha Sadan, Lalitpur. She aspires to be a teacher in the future. To accomplish her aspiration, she continuously does her homework and respects her teachers. She loves to play hide and seek with her friends and read stories in the leisure. Rama currently receives mid-day meals through KG’s Sajha Khaja program. |
Sarita Dhungel is a beautiful and an ever smiling girl. It is amazing to see an eleven years old girl with such sincerity and yearning to become a teacher. But to fulfill her aspiration, her mother will have to work hard to ensure things are in the right track. Sarita came to Kathmandu with her parents from Okhaldhunga but her parents separated three years back. Currently, Sarita is living with her mother and an elder sister in a rented room in Lalitpur.
Sarita and her sister study in Pragati Siksha Sadan in Lalitpur. Sarita is in grade three and her sister in grade six. Her mother works days and nights to ensure her daughters’ education. As a tribute to her mother's hard work, Sarita is doing great in school. She is one of the top 5 students of her class. She chooses to read books and stories over playing in leisure. Her favorite subject is Nepali. Sarita currently receives mid-day meals through KG’s Sajha Khaja program. |
Shy yet energetic Seema Magar is a grade 2 student of Pragati Siksha Sadan, Lalitpur. She is 12 years old. She is originally from Biratnagar and is living with her maternal uncle in Kupondole. There are 5 members in her uncle's family and they rent two rooms to share.
Seema wants to become a teacher. Her favorite subject is English and practices speaking and writing on her own. Unlike many other girls, she plays football and would love to become a football player as well. After school she helps her uncle and auntie in fetching water, cleaning dishes and in other household chores. Seema currently receives mid-day meals through KG's Sajha Khaja program. |
With a vivid smile in his face and a pair of sparkling eyes, Shirish Tamang personifies cheerfulness. Eleven years old Shirish lives in Kupandole with his parents. He is a student of grade one in Pragati Siksha Sadan. Shirish's father earns his living by painting houses. Shirish is good at his studies and his favorite subject is English. He aims to be a doctor in future because he is fascinated by the white coat doctors wear. He likes to play hide and seek with friends after school. He likes to take pictures using camera but he does not have one. Shirish currently receives mid-day meals through KG’s Sajha Khaja program. |
Eight years old Siddhartha Bhujel is one of the bright students of Pragati Siksha Sadan, Lalitpur. He studies in grade 2. He lives with his parents in Kupondole. They rent a room which is shared by his family of four. He never misses to go to school. He loves going to school, doing his homework and reading books. His mother works as a maid and father works as a daily wage laborer. After school he goes home, changes his dress, eats snacks and sits for studies. Amazingly, he is just 8 years old but knows that his first priority is his studies. His favorite Subject is English and he aims to become a scientist. He also knows the fact that to help him accomplish his dreams; his parents are really working hard. So, apart from focusing on studies, he helps his mother in various household chores. Siddhartha currently receives mid-day meals through KG's Sajha Khaja program. |
